We’re excited to announce big news – Atma has been selected as part of a national team to connect communities with historic investments for environmental justice efforts in the United States. We’re delighted to be on the team led by the Institute for Sustainable Communities along with the American Society of Adaptation Professionals (ASAP).
I am very proud of our team for establishing our proven 7-year track record of empowering grassroots communities to share knowledge, wisdom and resources in Indonesia, Puerto Rico, Ukraine and soon, throughout the United States. And we thank all who have worked to build Atma into the force that we’ve become, including funders and individuals. With your help, we will empower many, many more people to lead the change in their communities.
UPDATE FROM UKRAINE
Thanks to generous donors, we began work last year in Ukraine. Resources on AtmaGo connected a displaced person with a vital organization that provides aid – and she now volunteers for it! Atma launched a partnership with a Ukrainian who is now based in Berlin, who is raising money for fellow Ukrainians in need, and more. See the update on the Atma blog.
CELEBRATING EARTH DAY 2023 on ATMAGO
We like to say – and it’s true – that every day is Earth Day!
For the annual celebration, we’re glad to share stories from many communities. In Indonesia the phrase “Gotong royong” or mutual assistance is far more than just words. Visit the Atma blog post to discover what six communities are doing, including reducing waste and pollution with ecobricks, planting mangrove trees to prevent erosion, sharing knowledge about the benefits and advantages of worm-enabled compost, and, not least, creating art from plastic bottle caps that would otherwise go into landfill.
Wishing you a wondrous Earth Day wherever you live. Feel free to join us in using the hashtags #Sustainability, #EarthDay2023, #InvestinOurPlanet and #WargaBantuWarga (neighbors helping neighbors.)
All the best,
